"Make it simple" plead businesses and public sector in network cost-cutting quest

With so many economic balls juggling in the air, UK businesses and public bodies are reaching out for a confident helping hand to make life less complicated.

It's one their Communications Provider could supply, according to a recent market report*.

It seems LANs and WANs are already in the sights of companies and local authorities as a key area for cutting complexity as well as cutting costs. Their quest is to rid themselves of the plethora of platforms that have burgeoned haphazardly as email, audio conferencing, video conferencing and ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) have grown in importance. They are also wary of getting stuck with a network that they can't downscale or upsize easily or cheaply when they need to.

And in the case of eGovernment initiatives, the market seems determined to continue to transform service levels by improving customer connectivity, despite the pinch of an ever-tighter budget.

The new network simplicity and cost-effectiveness they're eager for could be within their grasp  and yours  with BT Wholesale Ethernet. Launched last summer as the UK's first 21CN Ethernet-based product, it offers you the opportunity to streamline your customers' networks  and reduce their operational and admin costs  by running multiple, bandwidth-hungry applications over a single platform: from fixed line voice and VoIP to data, IP and video.

The product also meets their flexibility brief by combining these savings with the lower costs and easy scaleabiity of every 21CN solution. With BT Wholesale Ethernet, you can  for example  tailor a network to each customer's immediate requirements, choosing from a circuit bandwidth range of 1Mbit/s to 1Gbit/s, and then evolve its size, configuration and speed in simple, affordable step increments as their needs change.

And your marketplace and potential new revenues can grow as BT Wholesale Ethernet's reach does. In early December 2008 130 new Metro nodes went live ahead of schedule, adding to the 106 existing ones. They will be joined this month by more nodes at locations around the country, putting us on schedule to achieve our truly national 600-strong target by the end of March 2009.

Your own "Make it simple" message has also been heard by BT Wholesale's 21CN product development team. This month we plan to launch a portal that gives you a fast and easy way to get quotes on demand and place and track your orders not only for BT Wholesale Ethernet but for other products in BT Wholesale's rapidly expanding 21CN portfolio.
